Gondorian Heavy Infantry

Since a few years I've been thinking about the idea of Gondor, and obviously it's soldiers, looking somewhat like the Byzantines. I even made a drawing of Imrahil and his knights as cataphracts! Now I'm just trying to make illustrations following this idea.

You could call this a project maybe? I'm really awful at making things like that. I make something one month, and then I make the continuation of it 6 months later because I get distracted with other ideas...
If this was a historical illustration, their equipment would be a mismatch, but here is just a combination of the equipment used by Eastern Roman heavy infantry during different dynasties. I've to say, byzantine equipment doesn't change that much over the years, so doesn't look too dissimilar.

The one on the left is loosely based on 10th century infantry, wearing a mail shirt, a klivanion(lamellar armor) and a so called "snail" helmet with a mail coif. The armguards, I think these are called bazubands. As far as I know, they weren't used by the byzantines, but I saw a few pictures of reenactor using them, so I don't know what to think...

The one on the right is basically an infantryman of the 13th century, during the Palaiologos Dynasty (the one that appears in Assassin's Creed Revelations)
